Telangana Records 73.2 Per Cent Voter Turnout

The Election Commission on Saturday announced that 73.20 percent polling was registered in the Telangana Assembly elections on Friday. The announcement came more than 24 hours after the polling ended in all 119 constituencies. Suspense continued throughout the day over the final figure of voter turnout. Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Rajath Kumar had stated late Friday that 67% polling was recorded at 5 p.m.

Addressing his first rally in Telangana at Nizamabad, PM Modi took on caretaker CM K Chandrashekar Rao, saying that he had not kept the promises he had made to the people of state. Modi said that when KCR was elected CM, he had promised to turn Nizamabad into London. "The CM should go live in London for five-years and return after that," he said.

Telangana caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's total asset has increased by about 41 per cent to Rs. 22.61 crore in the last over four years and even though his party's symbol is a 'car', he does not own one, his election affidavit reveals. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) supremo filed the affidavit along with his nomination papers Wednesday for the Gajwel assembly constituency. Telangana goes to poll on December 7.
