Jio accuses Airtel, Vodafone Idea, BSNL of cheating

Reliance Jio Infocomm has accused Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and state-run BSNL of 'cheating' by fraudulently masquerading landline numbers as mobile numbers to unfairly earn interconnect revenue. The charge was rejected by Airtel, which said the Ambani-owned telco was trying to 'misguide' the telecom regulator amid the ongoing consultation process on IUC, as the war of words over the contentious fee heated up further.

Bharti Chairman Sunil Mittal says India should allow Huawei in 5G

Two-big-twists were added over two-days to the already complicated 5G-Huawei issue. Bharti Enterprises chairman and telecom heavyweight Sunil-Mittal rebutted US-secretary of commerce Wilbur-Ross and argued that India should consider deploying Huawei's 5G-network. A day earlier foreign-minister S Jaishankar had said 5G was a telecom issue and not a political-one and that in terms of negotiations with China, India would "largely take a bilateral approach".

Jio has widest 4G network, Airtel's grows over 3-fold: Trai

Reliance Jio has the widest 4G network in the country with more than 7.46 lakh 4G base stations, according to Trai data. Bharti Airtel's 4G coverage is less than half of Reliance Jio's but it has expanded its network more than three-folds since September 2017. Airtel's 4G network more than tripled from 97,130 BTS to over 3.26 lakh BTS.
