India orders students, tourists out of Kashmir for security

Thousands of Indian students and visitors were fleeing Indian-controlled Kashmir over the weekend after the government ordered tourists and Hindu pilgrims visiting a Himalayan cave shrine "to curtail their stay'' in the disputed territory, citing security concerns. Omar Abdullah, a pro-India Kashmiri leader who has criticized the Modi-led government's muscular approach in Kashmir, said New Delhi should clear the air in Kashmir.

Fierce storms have killed six tourists and injured dozens of people in northern Greece, authorities said on Thursday. Strong winds and hail on Wednesday evening tore into the beachfront of Halkidiki region, one of Greece's most popular tourist areas, terrifying thousands of holidaymakers caught in the open. Nearly 30 people have been hospitalised in nearby Thessaloniki, including a 13-year-old girl from Serbia.
Statue of Unity visited by over 1 lakh people since Nov 1

The 182-metre tall Statue of Unity has seen over 1L visitors since it was opened to public on November-1 and will help Gujarat attract more tourists, including international ones, in the future, senior state Tourism official said. The statue of Sardar Patel, situated on an islet near Sardar Sarovar Dam in Kevadiya in the state's Narmada district, was inaugurated by PM Modi on October-31.
