On Video, UP Cops Thrash Transgenders At Police Station In Meerut

A group of transgender people were ruthlessly beaten up by policemen in UP's Meerut after a clash allegedly erupted between two-rival-factions. A video of incident showed the transgender people scrambling for cover as policemen rained blows on them at the Lalkurti police station. According to reports, action was taken after they began fighting with another group over distribution of "gifts" collected by the community.
After major legal win, TN man and transwoman get marriage registered

After a well fought legal-battle, Arun Kumar and Sreeja of Tuticorin became the first man-transwoman couple in TN to have their marriage registered. "I am very happy. I am planning to undergo surgery so that I can give birth to a child," an overjoyed Sreeja said. Though her mother stood by her when she got married, Arun's parents had distanced themselves from the couple.
73,000 Transgenders Arrested For Extorting Money From Rail Passengers

More than 73,000 transgenders have been arrested for extorting money from railway passengers in the past four years, with over 20,000 alone in the last one year, the railway ministry has said in a reply to an RTI query. The data assumes significance as passengers have complained of harassment by transgenders who often board trains and extort money from them.
