Cine stars-turned-MPs of the Trinamool Congress, Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan, raised their first-issue in Parliament. While Mimi Chakraborty sought construction of a flyover in her constituency Jadavpur to deal with traffic-congestion, Nusrat Jahan sought a Kendriya Vidyalaya in her area Basirhat in West Bengal. The two-stars were seated together throughout the proceedings on Tuesday and were mobbed by the media as they walked-out.

Elected public representatives and government officials in West Bengal who accept "cut money" from beneficiaries of welfare schemes will now be charged under a tough law that provides for life imprisonment in the event of conviction, sources in the chief minister's office said. Superintendents of Police of all districts have been asked to comply with the instructions the moment they receive a formal complaint.
TMC Forms 12-Member Panel For Election Campaign In West Bengal

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has formed a 12-member committee Sunday to chart modalities on election campaign in West Bengal for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the party's secretary general Partha Chatterjee said. The committee would look into the applications by aspiring candidates to fight the elections and forward those to the party's supremo Mamata Banerjee, Mr Chatterjee told newspersons in the city.
