Nigerian Agency investigating Truecaller for leaking 7 Mn users data

Swedish call-blocking app Truecaller has been accused of leaking private information of over 70 lakh Nigerian users and is now facing an investigation from Nigerian IT regulatory body NITDA. Truecaller allegedly violates global as well as Nigeria's data protection laws, as per an initial investigation. Truecaller also allegedly reroutes all the customer data through Truecaller India.
Truecaller's data of Indian users being sold online for Rs 1.5 lakh

Data of Swedish caller ID service Truecaller's India users is reportedly being sold for about Rs.1.5 lakh on dark web, while that of its global users is priced up to about Rs.20 lakh. "There has been no sensitive user information being accessed...especially financial or payment details," Truecaller responded to the claims. India users reportedly comprise 60-70% of Truecaller's user base.
