The government is reportedly planning to introduce a mechanism to identify fake medicines wherein drug makers will be required to print a unique 14-digit alphanumeric code on packages. Consumers will be able to text the code to a number to check whether the product is genuine. The government plans to initially build a data bank of 300 medicine brands, reports said.
