1st blind woman IAS officer takes charge in Kerala

India's first visually-impaired IAS officer Pranjal Patil has taken charge as Thiruvananthapuram sub-collector. This is her second assignment since her appointment into service in 2018. She said that she was excited to be working in Kerala and looked forward to the new assignment as sub collector. "We must never give up, we will get that one breakthrough that we are hoping for," she added.
Eye donation can help 1.2L blind Indians: Doctors

On the occasion of the 33rd National Eye Donation Fortnight in Delhi, doctors say that eye donation can help 1,20,000 Indians suffering from corneal blindness. According to a study published in 2011, there are around 45 million blind people in the world, of which 12 million are in India. Of these 12 million, 1%, that is 1.2 lakh suffer from corneal-blindness.
