Earth-Like Planets Might Be Present In Universe, Study Suggests

There's no denying the fact that Earth is the only habitable-planet and one of its kind, but according to new-evidence there may be numerous Earth-like planets in the universe. White-dwarf stars are dense, burned-out remnants of normal stars. Their strong gravitational pull causes heavy elements like carbon, oxygen and nitrogen to sink rapidly into their interiors, where the heavy-elements cannot be detected by telescopes.

Universe gets bigger, map unearths 300,000 more galaxies

A map published by a team of over 200 astronomers, including Indians, has revealed three lakh previously undetected light sources thought to be galaxies. The data comes from a radio survey of 2% of the sky using Netherlands-based Low-Frequency Array (LOFAR) telescope. Astronomers said they expect to find 1.5 crore radio sources in total by surveying the entire Northern sky.

Researchers have devised a new model for the universe one that may solve the enigma of dark energy. The study, published in the journal Physical Review Letters, proposes a new structural concept, including dark energy, for a universe that rides on an expanding bubble in an additional dimension. The explanation is the "dark energy" that permeates it throughout, pushing it to expand.
