UP cabinet to move against officer who criticised Yogi govt on Facebook

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved action against an officer for posting comments against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government on Facebook. Rajeev Yadav, deputy director-general in the employment department, was suspended in July last year for allegedly writing against the state government. On July 2, 2018, a probe was ordered against Rajeev Yadav and he was suspended three days later.

The Congress on Friday announced candidates for five assembly constituencies for the upcoming bypolls in Uttar Pradesh. Congress leader Umesh Kumar Diwakar will be contesting for Iglas (Schedule Caste) seat, Sneh Lata from Tundla (Schedule Caste) seat and Karishma Thakur from Govind Nagar seats respectively. Congress has fielded Sunil Mishra for Jalalpur assembly seat and Rajmangal Yadav will be contesting from Ghosi.

Uttar Pradesh: Woman raped by policeman, his friend in Ghazipur

A woman was allegedly abducted and raped by a policeman and his friend, and thrown near a canal in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district, police said on Friday. The incident took place at a village in the Ghazipur district's Mardah area on Wednesday evening. Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary jawan Abhay Yadav has been arrested, while his friend is at large, further said police.
