A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped and set on fire in UP's Sambhal. "It was alleged that the girl was raped and set blaze after sprinkling-kerosene-oil on her. On her parent's complaint, a case was registered. The accused has been arrested. He was charged with Section 376, 307 and other relevant sections of the IPC," Senior Superintendent of Police Alok Kumar Jaiswal told ANI.

Two wanted criminals on Thursday night sustained injuries in an encounter with the police after they attempted to flee by firing on a police team. "We were conducting a checking-drive when we got information about some criminals. They were roaming with their faces covered with cloth. They started firing when we chased them", SSP Anand Kulkarni told reporters.
