The Congress alleged today that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh wants to "deport" party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra so that she cannot meet the victims of the Sonbhadra clash. Congress also alleged that "jungle raj" was prevalent in the state and the government had failed to take action against the guilty. It also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the issue.

Standoff between Priyanka Gandhi, UP government ends

The standoff between Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and the Uttar Pradesh government ended Saturday, a day after she was detained by the Mirzapur administration when she insisted on travelling to the scene of a recent shootout in Sonbhadra. Gandhi spent Friday night at the Chunar guesthouse, insisting she will not return to Delhi unless she meets the families of the victims.

Congress general-secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday hit out at the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh over reports of patients being treated in some hospitals under mobile phone flashlights or torches. She asked if this is the way patients should be treated. "The metre of false claims of the BJP government in UP is running but the electricity in hospitals is out," she tweeted.
