The amended citizenship law is meant to give citizenship to religiously persecuted refugees and not to take away the citizenship of Indians of any religion, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu told trainee diplomats from Bangladesh today. Mr Naidu emphasised that India wants peace and stability in the neighbourhood and friendly relations with all its neighbours.

There cannot be instant justice, but there cannot be constant delays in justice delivery either, else people become restive and try to take law in their hands, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said on Sunday. His remarks came a day after Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde said justice can never be instant and loses its character when it becomes revenge.
Venkaiah Naidu Pulls Up MPs For Low Attendance In Parliamentary Panels

Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday pulled up MPs of both Houses for their low attendance in parliamentary standing committees' meetings and urged the leaders of all political parties to ensure "quantitative and qualitative functioning" of these panels. Naidu said Rajya Sabha's eight department-related standing committees (DRSCs), which were reconstituted in September, had held a total of 41 meetings since then.
