Consumer spending on technology to hit $1.69 trillion in 2019: IDC

Driven by emerging technologies including AR/VR headsets, drones, on-demand services, robotic systems, smart home devices and wearables, consumer spending on technology is forecast to reach $1.69 trillion globally in 2019 an increase of 5.3 per cent over 2018, an International Data Corporation (IDC) report has said. Emerging technologies will deliver strong growth with a five-year CAGR of 13.2 per cent.

Mahindra Ecole Centrale launches supercomputer lab

Mahindra Ecole Centrale, an engineering college based in Hyderabad launched its supercomputer lab today. The lab is expected to address the requirements for faster computing performance and will provide a solid platform for deep learning and analytics, and multi-disciplinary engineering simulations, said the university in a press release. A Dassault-Systemes based 3D-experience package is also being installed in the lab.

Visionet plans to hire 800 employees in 6 months

Business process management firm Visionet Systems is planning to hire around 800 people in India in the next six-months to expand local operations and expects to grow 30% year-on-year in terms of business. "We are planning to hire around 800 people in the next six months which will take our team strength to over 2,500 in India," Visionet Managing Director Alok Bansal told.
