Eatery Pays Heavy Price For Insisting On ID Before Transgender Used Loo

A District of Columbia restaurant will pay $7,000 as-part-of settlement after an-employee tried to stop-a-transgender-woman from using a-women's-restroom last summer, D.C.'s attorney-general said this week. Charlotte Clymer, transgender woman and activist with Human Rights Campaign, which advocates for LGBTQ equality, was asked to show identification June-22 when she tried to use a women's restroom at Cuba Libre, a downtown Cuban restaurant and rum bar.

Amazon picks New York, suburban Washington for new, split HQ: WSJ

Amazon has decided to split its new headquarters between New York City and Washington suburb in Northern Virginia, The Wall Street Journal reported. An official announcement from online retail giant is expected as early as Tuesday, the newspaper said Monday night, quoting people familiar with the issue. Reports to this effect first ran last week in the Journal and in The New York Times.

World Bank to issue world's first blockchain bond

The World Bank has mandated the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) to arrange the first bond globally to be created, allocated, transferred and managed using blockchain technology. World Bank aims to raise up to $73 million through the two-year bond. Blockchain technology, which powers cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, is used to securely record all transactions made on the chain.
