G20 Countries Agree To Tackle Ocean Plastic Waste

The Group of 20 major-economies said they agreed a deal to reduce plastic waste that is choking the seas at a meeting in Japan on Sunday. Under the agreement, G20 member countries committed to reducing plastic-waste but gave little detail on how that would be done. They added that steps would be voluntary and progress would be reported once a year, according to local-media.

Film and television personalities should be roped in to raise awareness on pollution in the Yamuna River and spread the message that idol immersion is leading to "unacceptably high level of toxicity" in the water, a committee appointed by the National Green Tribunal said. The panel also said these celebrities can spread the message that "only clay idols without paint need to be used".
