Assam govt to file case against Shaheen Bagh protest

Assam government would register a case against the alleged mastermind of the Shaheen Bagh protests in Delhi for his "seditious" comment "aimed" at disrupting law and order in the state, a minister said. Addressing a press conference, Assam FM said Sherjil Islam was heard saying in an audio clip that the state should be cut-off from the rest of India and taught a lesson.

Poll authorities have issued a notice to BJP's Hari Nagar candidate Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga over his campaign video-song, asking why its expenditure should not be added to his poll-expenses, officials said. "The MCMC of West Delhi district had sent an email raising suspicion of paid news in his campaign-video-song 'Bagga Bagga Har Jagah', following which the notice was sent," a senior official said.
