West Indies batsman Chris Gayle to retire from ODIs after World Cup

Veteran West Indies batsman Chris Gayle will retire from one-day international cricket after this year's World Cup in England and Wales, Windies Cricket announced. The big-hitting 39-year-old opener, who has scored 9,727 runs in 284 ODIs, is set to play his first-international since last-July against England on Wednesday. The game in Barbados on Wednesday is first of five-match series against World Cup favourites England.

Hockey India coach Harendra Singh sacked after World Cup exit

Hockey India has sacked men's national team coach Harendra Singh after a dismal showing at the Asian Games and their quarter-final exit as hosts in last month's World Cup. The much-fancied Indian senior team had to settle for a bronze at the Asiad in Jakarta last year and were dumped out by the Netherlands in the World Cup in December.

Harendra blames poor umpiring for India's early ouster from WC

Indian hockey team's chief coach Harendra Singh blamed poor umpiring for the team's exit from the ongoing men's Hockey World Cup in the quarterfinal stage of the tournament. Singh further said that the International Hockey Federation (FIH) needs to address the issue. India lost 1-2 to the Netherlands in the fourth and last quarterfinal.
