Former-BJP-leader Yashwant Sinha questioned Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's claim that rise of Ola and Uber affected the automobile-sector, asking why the sales of trucks should also decline. Those in power were making "weird" statements, the former finance minister said, talking to reporters in Madhya Pradesh's Indore. "People in the government are making weird statements. But they will definitely affect the government's image," he said.

Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha today said the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 will not be passed in the Rajya Sabha even as he insisted that the Modi government is not going to come to power for a second time. The veteran politician, who quit the BJP last year, said this in Guwahati while delivering a talk organised by a citizens' forum.

Former finance minister Yashwant Sinha said today it would be "entirely improper and unconstitutional" if the government presents a full budget ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, since he had asked for it to present an interim budget. Amid speculation that the government may present a full budget on February 1, Mr Sinha said there is no precedence of an outgoing government doing so.
