Zika Diagnostic Test By Washington University Gets Market Authorisation

A Zika diagnostic-test developed by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis was newly granted market authorisation by the FDA. Zika virus can cause babies to be born with devastating brain damage. The test is not meant to be used as a stand-alone proof of infection. Positive results should be confirmed in accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Not so alarming, revise Zika alert: India to CDC

Zika is a mosquito-borne infection spread by a virus. In the alert on December 13, the CDC had said: "An outbreak of Zika has been reported in India. Zika is endemic (regularly found) in India. However, there is an unusual increase in the number of Zika cases in Rajasthan and surrounding states. Pregnant women should not travel to areas with risk of Zika."
Zika tally touches 130 with 5 new cases in Jaipur

Five more Zika positive cases were detected in Jaipur on Tuesday that took ZVD toll to 130. However, 117 of them have recovered completely claimed the health department official. Meanwhile, health department teams continue to conduct mosquito containing activities, survey and sample collection in affected areas and as per officials there is no need to panic as situation is under control.
