Cement production heading for first decline in 15 years

As demonetization hits the building sector, cement production in 2016-17 is heading for the first decline since 2001. Production volume in January dropped about 13% y-o-y, the first such decline since January 2001. After note ban, cement production growth slowed to 0.5% in November and fell 9% in December, taking production growth for the first nine months of FY17 to just 2.6%.
