Cos increasing variable pay to retain, attract talents: Experts

Companies are offering 10-25% increase in variable pay as incentive to retain and attract talents, especially in the IT, FMCG, e-commerce, BFSI and telecom sectors, according to experts. "We see an increase ranging from 10-25% during the last 2-3 years. Today for some companies, the variable component is nearly 25% of the fixed salary for employees at junior-mid level," said the source.

India is the sixth wealthiest country in the world with a total wealth of $8,230-billion, while the US is the richest nation globally, says a report. According to the AfrAsia Bank Global Wealth Migration Review, the US is the wealthiest country in the world with a total wealth of $62,584-billion, followed by China ($24,803-billion) at the second-place and Japan ($19,522-billion) at the third-place.

Naxals blow up police vehicle in C'garh; 6 cops killed, 1 injured

Six security personnel were killed and another was critically wounded on Sunday when Maoists detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district. The deafening blast, on the Bacheli-Cholnar road, targeted a jeep in which seven security personnel were patrolling in a remote area, killing five of them instantly, Inspector General of Police (Bastar) Vivekanand Sinha told the media.

GST roadblocks hit Patanjali growth in FY18

Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali, which has recorded multi-fold growth in recent years, is expecting a marginal growth for 2017-18, on account of GST, said a company official. Haridwar-based firm said it was impacted as it had a window of 10-months only in the last fiscal, as the company took two months to adopt the framework of the GST system, develop infrastructure and supply chain.

Government earns Rs 1,400 crore as revenue from e-tourist visa

The government has earned Rs 1,400 crore as revenue from the highly successful e-Visa scheme, offered to citizens of 163 countries visiting India as tourists, since its launch in 2014. Union Home Ministry officials said the popular e-Visa scheme was availed by 19 lakh tourists in 2017 and it is expected that more than 25 lakh tourists will avail the facility in 2018.

PNB refuses to disclose details on over Rs.13,000 cr scam

State-run PNB has refused to disclose details of the audit or investigation that led to detection of over Rs 13,000 crore fraud at the company, citing a clause that bars any disclosure that can impede the process of investigating or apprehending the offenders. In reply to an RTI query, the state-owned bank also declined to share copy of inspection reports related to the scam.

KMP expressway to be completed in June: Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Saturday that the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway will be inaugurated soon after the construction work is completed in June. Khattar said that the construction work on KMP Expressway should have been completed in 2010. "The present government, soon after coming to power, restarted work on the expressway and now it is nearing completion," Khattar said.

Death toll in Friday's plane crash in Cuba rises to 110

The toll from Friday's Boeing 737 crash in Cuba, close to Havana's Jose Marti International Airport, has risen to 110, officials said. Transportation Minister Abel Izquierdo told a press conference on Saturday that of the 110 dead, 99 were Cubans, 11 foreigners including 6 Mexican crew members, 2 Argentines, 1 Mexican and 2 temporary foreign residents, Xinhua news agency reported.

'Thalassaemia patients to be treated with goat blood soon'

A government-run ayurveda hospital in Punjab's Ludhiana will inject goat blood in Thalassaemia patients to ensure that their haemoglobin levels do not drop, medical officers have said. The Centre released Rs 35 lakh and the Punjab government provided Rs 13 lakh for the treatment project, which will be launched at the hospital in around five months.
