Newly-elected Karnataka MLA dies in road accident

Newly-elected Congress MLA Siddu B Nyamagouda died in a road accident early Monday morning, police said. The Jamkhandi MLA was on his way from Goa to his home district Bagalkot when the car in which he was traveling in hit a truck near Tulasigeri. Police sources said the seriously injured MLA was taken to a hospital, but declared brought dead.

Petrol, Diesel Prices Hiked For 15th Day In A Row

Petrol and diesel prices continued their upward movement on Monday. While petrol prices were hiked by 15 paise per litre in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai, diesel prices were raised by 11-12 paise per litre. Monday's increase in petrol and diesel prices marked a fifteen straight day of hikes, which followed a 19-day hiatus ahead of Karnataka elections.

Oil prices fall as top 3 producers look to boost supplies

Oil prices fell on Monday, extending a steep decline in the previous session, as the market eyed an increase in output from the worlds three top crude producers, Russia, US and Saudi Arabia. Brent crude futures were at $75.34 per-barrel at 6-am, down $1.10, or 1.4%, from their last close. US West Texas Intermediate crude futures were at $66.31 a barrel, down $1.57, or 2.3%.

Egypt bans YouTube for one month over 2012 anti-Islamic video

Egypt's top administrative court ordered on 26 May to block YouTube streaming website for one month over hosting a video that denigrates Prophet Muhammad of Islam, the Egyptian lawyer who filed the lawsuit said. A lower administrative court has previously ordered the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to do so, but the latter appealed against the ruling, citing it was hard to implement.

21 PSBs lost Rs 25,775 crore in bank frauds in 2017-18: RTI

Twenty-one public sector banks (PSBs) have incurred losses totalling Rs.25,775 crore due to banking frauds in the financial year 2017-18, a Right to Information reply has stated. The PNB had incurred the highest loss of Rs.6461.13 crore due to different cases of fraud during the fiscal that ended on March 31 this year, Chandrasekhar Gaud, who had filed the RTI with the RBI, told.
