Gold prices softened by Rs.80 to Rs.29,350/10 grammes, mainly on account of a sluggish trend overseas. However, silver strengthened by another Rs.200 to Rs.42,200/kg backed by increased offtake by industrial units and coin makers. Traders attributed the slide in gold prices to a weak trend overseas but scattered buying by local jewellers following the beginning of an auspicious week of 'Navratras' limited the fall.
