Karnataka Chief Minister-designate HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday said that he would prove majority just 24 hours after taking oath. He added that he will be travelling to Delhi on Monday to meet Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Earlier, Kumaraswamy also declared that there is no rotational chief ministership arrangement with alliance partner Congress.

After Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa resigned before the floor test, actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth said, "What happened in Karnataka yesterday was a win for democracy." He added that Governor Vajubhai Vala giving 15 days to the BJP to prove majority was "a mockery of democracy". The Supreme Court order directing the floor test to be held on Saturday upheld democracy, Rajinikanth said.

On an average, a college student in India checks his mobile phone over 150 times a day, according to a study conducted by Aligarh Muslim University and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Six security personnel were killed and another was critically wounded on Sunday when Maoists detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district. The deafening blast, on the Bacheli-Cholnar road, targeted a jeep in which seven security personnel were patrolling in a remote area, killing five of them instantly, Inspector General of Police (Bastar) Vivekanand Sinha told the media.
GST roadblocks hit Patanjali growth in FY18

Government earns Rs 1,400 crore as revenue from e-tourist visa

The government has earned Rs 1,400 crore as revenue from the highly successful e-Visa scheme, offered to citizens of 163 countries visiting India as tourists, since its launch in 2014. Union Home Ministry officials said the popular e-Visa scheme was availed by 19 lakh tourists in 2017 and it is expected that more than 25 lakh tourists will avail the facility in 2018.
PNB refuses to disclose details on over Rs.13,000 cr scam

State-run PNB has refused to disclose details of the audit or investigation that led to detection of over Rs 13,000 crore fraud at the company, citing a clause that bars any disclosure that can impede the process of investigating or apprehending the offenders. In reply to an RTI query, the state-owned bank also declined to share copy of inspection reports related to the scam.
