Kerala State Lost Tourism Revenue Of INR 1,000 Crores Post Demonetization

Kerala State Government said the tourism sector has registered an estimated loss of about INR 1,000 crores, post demonetization of old 500 and 1,000 rupee currency notes. There was a decrease of 10-15% in the number of foreign tourists arriving, while the number of domestic tourists dipped by 20-30%. The state of Kerala gets a revenue of INR 25,000 crores every year from tourism.
