Team India pacer Mohammed Shami's estranged wife Hasin Jahan met West-Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in connection with her complaint of domestic violence and infidelity against the cricketer. Banerjee met the cricketer's wife at the state Assembly for around 15-minutes and heard Jahan's complaint against Shami. "She listened to me. The CM was kind and empathetic. She has assured me of all support," Jahan said.
Harsh Vardhan asks people to switch off lights for an hour on March 24

Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan today made an impassioned-appeal to the people to switch off all non-essential lights for an hour to mark the Earth Hour, saying he himself will do so. "Today, on March-24, as we celebrate Earth Hour, I will switch off all non-essential lights in my office and residence from 8:30 to 9:30-pm in support for action against nature loss.
Over 31.46 lakh BPL families registered in Gujarat: Govt

The Gujarat Government today informed the Legislative Assembly that the state had over 31.46 lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, with over 18,000 such families getting added to the list in the last two years. Rural Development Minister Bachubhai Khabad said, in his written reply, that over 31.46 lakh such families were registered in Gujarat as on December 2017.

CBI arrests Totem Infrastructure promoters in bank fraud case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested Tottempudi Salalith and Tottempudi Kavita, the promoters of Totem Infrastructure Ltd, in connection with an alleged Rs 1,394-crore bank fraud perpetrated against a consortium of eight lenders, officials said. Union Bank alleged in the complaint that it suffered a loss of Rs 313.84 crore as the loans given to the company.

Reliance Jio, Saavn to create $1 bn digital music platform

In a deal led by Reliance Jio director Akash Ambani, Reliance Industries Ltd on Friday signed an agreement for combination of digital music service Saavn with JioMusic to create a digital music platform with global reach having total value of over $1 billion. As part of the Jio-Saavn deal, Reliance will be acquiring a partial stake from the existing shareholders of Saavn for $104-million.
