
NASA loses contact with planet-seeking Asteria spacecraft

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory has lost contact with ASTERIA, a briefcase-sized satellite designed to find planets outside Solar System. The space agency said the last successful communication with it occurred on December 5 and attempts to contact it could continue into March. The satellite observes stars for a dip in their brightness to indicate the presence of an orbiting planet.
