RBI wants banks to extend education loans to students. RBI has allowed the rescheduling of the payment period of these education loans, if borrower is unemployed and these restructured accounts will not be treated as NPAs. Banks would allow up to three spells of moratorium, which do not exceed 6 months each, during the entire life cycle of the education loan.
