
Rs 14,000-crore state support plan to strengthen road safety

The transport ministry has firmed up a Rs.14,000-crore state support programme for strengthening road safety in India, which will be funded by the World Bank and the ADB. The programme will be driven by a strict incentive-based structure for states delivering on road safety aspects, including reduction in fatalities. Road accidents in India claimed more than 150,000-lives in 2018, a recent government report said.
