GST enforcers uncover Rs 450 crore fraudulent tax claim nexus

Fraudulent input tax credit claims worth Rs 450 crore have been uncovered by the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence. A report said that fake bills were made and sold to businesses looking to claim this undeserved credit. A portion of this credit was then supplied to the provider of the fraudulent bills.

Govt may set reserve price for Air India sale by June end

The government will shortlist qualified bidders for Air India by 15-June and set a reserve price for the national carrier by June end, two people familiar with the matter said. The intention is to complete the sale of a 76% stake in the airline before the end of the FY. "The government will commence the second-stage of AI-divestment immediately after 15-June," said the source.

Khan had sought Vijayan's permission to serve in the state, adding that he was "inspired" by the nurse who died after contracting the virus from a patient.

Two suspected cases of Nipah virus reported from a second Indian state

Two-people suspected to be infected with the brain-damaging Nipah virus are under treatment in Karnataka, a health official said, after an outbreak of the rare virus in neighbouring Kerala-state killed 10. Symptoms of the virus were seen in a 20-year old woman and a 75-year-old man in Karnataka's port city of Mangalore after they travelled to Kerala and came into contact with infected patients.

With the entire Magenta Line becoming operational in the coming week, next in the line is Delhi Metros Mundka-Bahadurgarh corridor, which is set to open in June. The extension of the Green Line (Inderlok-Mundka) to Bahadurgarh would be Delhi Metros third foray into Haryana after Gurugram and Faridabad. The metro corridor will run along NH-10 (Rohtak Road) on an elevated viaduct.

Crematoria staff refuse to dispose dead bodies in north Kerala

Some crematoria in Kerala's Kozhikode have refused to cremate dead bodies, fearing that the staff will contract the Nipah virus from the deceased. Some of the staff allegedly went on mass leave without informing the authorities. "Some incidents came to our notice. We will take strict action against those who are not co-operating with us," District Collector UV Jose said.
