Online retailer Amazon.com Inc said an employee in the United States tested positive for the coronavirus. "We're supporting the affected employee who is in quarantine," a company spokeswoman said in an email to Reuters. The spokeswoman confirmed a report by Bloomberg News that all co-workers in contact with the employee, who worked at Amazon's South Lake Union office complex in Seattle, had been informed.

Amazon on Tuesday said an employee who works in one of its Seattle, Washington, offices tested positive for the coronavirus. "We're supporting the affected employee who is in quarantine," the company told CNBC. "The employee is based out of Amazons Brazil office building in Seattle, WA." The office is in downtown Seattle on 9th Avenue, according to a search on Google Maps.

Amazon.com Inc has quietly opened a series of small warehouses closer to big U.S. cities in a move to shave hours off delivery times, the company told Reuters. On Tuesday, the world's largest online retailer is updating its same-day delivery program for shoppers in Phoenix, Philadelphia, Dallas and Orlando, it said. Amazon will guarantee packages arrive by several set times daily.

Bezos, the world's richest person, said in an Instagram post that he'll start giving grants this summer to scientists, activists and nonprofits working to protect Earth. Essential Products, a consumer electronics startup founded by the former Google executive Andy Rubin, said on Wednesday that it was ceasing operations. Once considered one of Silicon Valley's most promising hardware technology startups, Essential had raised $330 million in outside funding because of the track record of Rubin, who is widely credited with creating Google's Android smartphone software.

Amazon filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court to "quash" the investigation ordered by India's competition watchdog into alleged malpractices by the online-marketplace. The American-company also sought an interim stay on the probe ordered by CCI last month while its petition is heard by the court. In its submission, Amazon claimed that CCI's order would cause irreparable damage and loss to its goodwill.

Amazon has infused over Rs 2,500 crore into two of its Indian businesses, Amazon Seller Services and Amazon Data Services India, according to regulatory filings. The investment comes just days after its founder and the world's richest man Jeff Bezos announced USD 1 billion investment in digitising SMEs in the country. An e-mail sent to the company did not elicit a response.

Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos will now fight a family battle as Michael Sanchez, brother of his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez, has filed a lawsuit against him, alleging that the world's richest man defamed him by saying that Michael leaked intimate photos and texts to the National Enquirer. In January 2019, National Enquirer exposed Bezos' extramarital affair with Lauren, including text messages between them.
