As part of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath met with two sisters known for their sharp memory and awarded them Rs 51,000 each. The sisters can reportedly answer around 2,000 general knowledge questions in less than one and a half hours. The government will keep helping them so that they continue doing well, the CM said.

Union Minister Maneka Gandhi on Saturday said that Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan have done well in implementation of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme, whereas Kashmir and Bihar have lagged behind in terms of child sex ratio. The Women and Child Development minister made these remarks while addressing a day-long national conference on 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' (BBBP).

Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao! Initial funding of Rs 100 crore and a vow to create awareness for educating and empowering the girl child is how Narendra Modi kickstarted his social scheme. Three years on, the phrase has been used over and over again by the Prime Minister and other leaders of his party but where is our girl child today?
