China's Big Three Airlines Seek 737 MAX Payouts From Boeing: Reports

China's three biggest airlines have filed claims seeking compensation from Boeing over the grounding and delayed delivery of 737 MAX 8 aircraft following two deadly crashes, Chinese state media reported. The reports in various state-run media that China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, and Air China would seek payouts from the American aerospace giant come against the backdrop of an escalating US-China trade war.

Indonesia's national carrier Garuda will call off a multi-billion-dollar order for 49 Boeing 737 Max 8 jets after two fatal crashes involving the plane, the company said Friday, in what is thought to be the first formal cancellation for the model. "We have sent a letter to Boeing requesting that the order be cancelled," said Garuda spokesman Ikhsan Rosan.

UAE Bans Boeing 737 MAX 8 After Ethiopian Airlines Crash

The United Arab Emirates' General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) banned the operation of all Boeing 737 MAX models in UAE airspace, Emirates News Agency (WAM) said on Tuesday. GCAA added in a statement that the ban was a precautionary measure following the Ethiopian Airways crash. GCAA will "continue monitoring and re-assessing the situation as more information is obtained about the accident," it said.

All Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft to be grounded in India by 4 pm today: DGCA

All Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in India will be grounded by 4 pm today, an official of aviation watchdog DGCA has said, according to news agency PTI. Last night, the regulator had announced that the planes would be grounded "immediately" for the sake of passenger safety, three days after an Ethiopian Airlines flight crashed, killing 157 people including four Indians.

China Grounds All Boeing 737 MAX 8 Jets After Ethiopian Airlines Crash

China has grounded all its 96 Boeing 737 Max 8 planes in operation after a Kenya-bound model operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed on Sunday killing 157 people. Boeing 737 Max 8 has now been involved in two crashes in last five months. Ethiopian Airlines also grounded the rest of its Boeing 737 Max 8 fleet until further notice.
