Indian-American lawmaker Raja Krishnamoorthi has won the primary elections in Illinois. Seeking his third consecutive term in the House of Representatives from the 8th Congressional District of Illinois, Krishnamoorthi now advances to the November general elections. Highly popular in his constituency, he swept the Democratic Congressional primary with 80% of the votes. William Olson finished a distant second with just 13% of the votes.

President Donald Trump is scrapping this year's G7 summit at Camp David near Washington due to the coronavirus crisis and will instead hold the event by videoconference, the White House said Thursday. The United States heads the group of seven wealthy democracies in 2020 and Trump had been due to host fellow leaders at the presidential retreat known as Camp David in June.

United States President Donald Trump has signed a multi-billion dollar emergency coronavirus economic relief bill, hours after it was passed by the US Senate. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which was passed by a vote of 90-8 in the US Senate, provides for free testing of COVID-19, insurance, paid leave for those diagnosed with or caring for someone affected by the virus.

The House passed a sweeping bill Wednesday allocating more than $8-billion in emergency funds to combat the spread of the deadly coronavirus. The vote was 415-2. Republican Reps. Ken-Buck of Colorado and Andy-Biggs of Arizona were the only members to vote against the legislation. The coronavirus bill will head to the Senate, where leaders there hope they can quickly bring it to a vote.
