Employees Provident fund (EPF) account holders can now generate UAN online

Giving more independence to account holders, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has now launched a new facility which allows you to generate your universal account number (UAN) online on your own. Earlier, the only option for an EPF account holder was to contact his or her employer who would generate the UAN after getting the relevant forms signed by the employee.

Labour Ministry notifies 8.65% interest rate on EPF for 2018-19

The Labour Ministry has notified 8.65% interest rate on employees provident fund for 2018-19, which will now be credited to the accounts of more than 6 crore subscribers of retirement fund body EPFO, Santosh Gangwar said. The EPFO has been settling EPF withdrawal claims at 8.55% interest rate, approved for 2017-18. Now, the EPFO will settle accounts at a higher-rate of 8.65% for 2018-19.

8.65% interest on EPF to be notified soon: Labour Minister

The labour ministry will soon notify 8.65 percent rate of interest on Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) for 2018-19 as the finance ministry does not disagree on this rate, said Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar on Friday. A notification by the labour ministry is required regarding the interest rate for crediting the interest amount into accounts of over 6 crore subscribers.

For 6 crore EPFO subscribers, EPF interest rate may remain unchanged

After a finance ministry proposal to cut down the EPFO interest rate for the last financial year 2018-19 was shot down by the labour ministry, EPF rates may remain unchanged for about 6-crore subscribers. In February, the retirement fund body, managed by the labour ministry, had announced a 10 basis points increase in the interest rate on provident fund deposits to 8.65% for 2018-19.

EPFO offers online facility to withdraw PF balance

The EPFO is offering an online-service to withdraw your PF account balance. To make the withdrawal process quicker and easier, the provident fund body has introduced a one-page composite form for those EPF subscribers who have linked their UAN with Aadhaar. The single-page composite claim form replaces multiple other claim forms like Form 19, Form 10C, Form 31, etc that were in use earlier.
