Salaried employees will get 0.15% lower returns on their provident fund deposits this year with the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation announcing a 15 basis-point-reduction in the interest rate on PF-deposits in 2019-20 compared to 8.65% in 2018-19 on the back of lower yields on its investments. The decision to this effect was taken at the just concluded central board of trustees meeting of EPFO.

Around 12.67 lakh jobs were created in December 2019 against 14.59 lakh in the previous month, according to payroll data of the ESIC. Gross enrolments of new subscribers with ESIC were 1.49 crore during the entire financial year 2018-19, the NSO said in a report. The report also showed that during the September 2017-December 2019 period, around 3.50 crore new-subscribers joined the ESIC scheme.

To boost consumption, the government may increase the take-home salary by giving the option of reducing provident fund(PF) contribution, according to a report. Organized sector employees may soon be permitted to lower their PF contribution, which is currently 12% of the basic salary, the report said. The ministry has also decided not to corporatize the EPFO and Employees' State Insurance Corporation(ESIC), the report said.

The Regional Provident Fund Commissioner here has sought records from the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) on the dues of employers contribution to the PF, a senior official of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation said on Monday. Though the accounts are maintained separately, the APSRTC Provident Fund Trust is yet to be bifurcated between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Giving more independence to account holders, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has now launched a new facility which allows you to generate your universal account number (UAN) online on your own. Earlier, the only option for an EPF account holder was to contact his or her employer who would generate the UAN after getting the relevant forms signed by the employee.

A clutch of multinational technology companies has turned to the government for help after their employees refused to link Aadhaar numbers with provident fund accounts. At a meeting with the Karnataka labour minister in Bengaluru last-week, an executive of tech major HP said the company was struggling to implement the mandate of the EPFO to link the unique identification number with individual PF accounts.

You have always been told not to share your bank details and even passwords to various financial apps with others. Now, the EPFO has asked EPF members not to share their details with others over the phone. This alert is prominently displayed on the EPFO's website. The provident fund body also said they never asks EPF account holders to share their details.

The Labour Ministry has notified 8.65% interest rate on employees provident fund for 2018-19, which will now be credited to the accounts of more than 6 crore subscribers of retirement fund body EPFO, Santosh Gangwar said. The EPFO has been settling EPF withdrawal claims at 8.55% interest rate, approved for 2017-18. Now, the EPFO will settle accounts at a higher-rate of 8.65% for 2018-19.

Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar on Tuesday said over 6 crore EPFO members will get 8.65% interest on their deposits for 2018-19. The Central Board of Trustees the apex decision-making body of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) had approved 8.65% interest rate for the last fiscal in February this year. The proposal was sent for the concurrence of the finance ministry.
