Adarsh Menon will head Flipkart's new business initiative as the company looks to reorganise the business, the Financial-Express reported. The announcement was made by Group-CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy in an email to employees which stated that Flipkart is "identifying new-opportunities", as per the report. Menon, currently senior-VP and Head for private-brands, electronics and furniture, would be appointed head Flipkart's B2B initiative, sources told the paper.

Amazon filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court to "quash" the investigation ordered by India's competition watchdog into alleged malpractices by the online-marketplace. The American-company also sought an interim stay on the probe ordered by CCI last month while its petition is heard by the court. In its submission, Amazon claimed that CCI's order would cause irreparable damage and loss to its goodwill.

Flipkart has shut down online fashion store Jabong and is focusing on Myntra, which it acquired in 2014, The Economic Times reported on Wednesday. Two years after being acquired by Flipkart, Myntra had acquired Jabong in a deal estimated to be worth $70 million in July 2016. The website and app of Jabong are redirecting users to Myntra.

Officials of Amazon and Flipkart are likely to approach the government later this week to seek clarity on the proposed TDS (tax deducted at source) on e-commerce transactions, people aware of the discussions told. Sources said representatives of the firms may either meet finance ministry officials in person or send a representation via industry bodies, FICCI and CII.

E-commerce major Flipkart said it has signed a MoU with Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd(GSHHDC) for promotion of local handicrafts. The agreement is part of Flipkart's Samarth initiative under which the Walmart-backed company is helping artisans, weavers and craftsmen set up their business on the Flipkart Marketplace. The MoU with Flipkart is the start of a new era for Garvi Gurjari.

India's Competition Commission has opened an antitrust probe into Amazon.com Inc and Walmart Inc's Flipkart Online Services Pvt, over exclusive arrangements between the retailers and mobile phone brands and preferential treatment given to some sellers. The antitrust body is due to complete its investigation and submit its findings within 60 days of the Jan 13 order.

Flipkart co founder Sachin Bansal has acquired DHFL General Insurance from WGC for around Rs.100-crore, people in the know of the deal said. The transaction is seen as a distress sale for WGC, which used to run bankrupt home financier Dewan Housing Finance, one of the persons said. Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal's bet on the insurance-firm is part of his broader ambition in financial-services-industry.

A man from Kerala's Kannur, who ordered a camera worth Rs.27,500 on Flipkart on November 20, was delivered a packet containing pieces of tiles by Flipkart's subsidiary Ekart Logistics on November 24. The packet also contained the camera's manual and warranty card. On contacting Flipkart's customer care, the retailer promised to send him a new camera.

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has written to Union Minister Piyush Goyal urging the government to take serious actions against Flipkart and Amazon for allegedly violating foreign direct investments (FDI) norms. In the letter, CAIT called the e-commerce majors "economic terrorists". CAIT claimed small retailers have suffered at the hands of e-commerce portals for the last one year.

Traders in more than 700 cities will on Wednesday protest against the "unethical and unfair business practices" of e-commerce firms Amazon and Flipkart, CAIT said. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has on multiple occasions alleged that these companies were circumventing the law and abusing Press Note No 2 of the government's foreign direct investment (FDI) policy.
