In a direct reaction to CM H D Kumaraswamy's jibe at voters of north-Karnataka, the North Karnataka Agitation Committee on Wednesday called for a shutdown across 13 districts to press for a separate state. President of the committee, Somashekar Kotambari, told the media here the bandh would be a mark of protest against CM HDK's statement in case a separate state was formed.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy refused to comment on the proposal to distribute 7 kg rice to BPL families under the Anna Bhagya scheme. He added that he needs to discuss the matter with the officials and then decide. he CM spoke after inaugurating the new MRI Block at Jaideva Hospital, in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has reportedly issued an order banning the entry of media personnel inside the state assembly building. As per reports, he has asked the Director-General to make separate enclosures for media outside the assembly building, allowing the ministers and other officials of the Secretariat to address the media whenever required.

Already grappling with the enormous task of mobilising funds needed for a massive farm loan waiver, Chief-Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy is now facing a new-challenge with pressure mounting on him to distribute free laptops among 1.5 lakh students doing their first year UG-course in the state. This was a promise made by former CM Siddaramaiah in the budget he presented before the recent Assembly polls.

BJP leader Rajeev Chandrashekhar has alleged that CM HD Kumaraswamy has spent public money to gift costly iPhone X phones and expensive bags to Members of Parliament from Karnataka. Posting the picture on Twitter, Chandrashekhar said that he is returning the gifts,which he said were being distributed ahead of a meeting over a Cauvery issues. The CM is yet to respond to these claims.

Speaking of the coalition government in Karnataka, a teary-eyed H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday said that the party men and others might be happy that their “Thamma (brother)” has become the chief minister but he’s not happy at all because he’s the one who knows the pain of heading a govt which doesn’t have mandate of the people.

Thousands of farmers across Karnataka protested against Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy for not waiving crop loans fully as promised by him before the May 12 assembly elections."Kumaraswamy promised to waive all our loans within 48 hours of coming to power. After Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy proposed a hike in fuel price while presenting the state budget, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said it would not be a burden on the people. He said, "For mobilization of resources a small increase has been made in sales tax of diesel and petrol in the Budget. It will not be a burden."
