In Pakistan, milk price touches Rs 140/litre, costlier than petrol

The price of milk has gone out of control across major cities of Pakistan on the day when Muharram is observed, according to Pakistani media reports. The price of milk has reached Rs 140 per litre in Karachi and the Sindh Province. Interestingly, petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are lower than that of milk.

No plan to stop petrol, diesel vehicles: Nitin Gadkari

Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said the government is not planning to stop petrol and diesel vehicles. He said the government is promoting e-vehicles and people will slowly accept it. Gadkari's statement came after the NITI Ayog had announced banning two-wheelers under 150cc by 2025 and three-wheelers vehicles by 2023.

India's July petrol imports hit highest in at least eight years

India's petrol imports rose to 230,000 tonnes in July, the highest since at least April 2011, data from the Oil Ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) showed on Wednesday. July crude oil imports declined 1.2% from a year earlier to 19.34 million tonnes. Meanwhile, LNG imports fell to their lowest since February 2018 at 850,000 tonnes.

Petrol, Diesel Prices In Uttar Pradesh To Go Up As Government Raises VAT

Petrol and diesel prices in Uttar Pradesh will go up by Rs. 2.5 and Re 1 respectively from Monday midnight as the government increased VAT. The Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol has been increased to 26.80 per cent or Rs. 16.74 per litre (whichever is higher) and on diesel 17.48% or Rs. 9.41 per litre (whichever is higher), according to an official order.

No plan to completely ban petrol, diesel vehicles: Dharmendra Pradhan

The government has no plans to ban petrol and diesel vehicles in the near future but will continue to push for greater use of electric vehicles with a view to cut oil imports and save the environment, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said. The Niti Aayog has reportedly proposed that after 2030, only electric vehicles should be sold in India.

Tax proposals to yield additional Rs 30,000 cr in 2019-20: Revenue Secretary

The government will rake in an additional Rs.30,000-crore in revenue from higher-tax imposed on super-rich and higher-duties on petrol and diesel in current fiscal-year, Revenue-Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey said. He said the exchequer will mobilise the additional resources by way of increase in duty and cess on petrol and diesel, and increased customs duty on gold and precious metals, besides higher surcharge on super-rich.

Petrol, Diesel Rate Hiked Day After Centre Raises Excise Duty, Infra Cess

Petrol and diesel rates were revised across the country on Saturday, a day after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her 2019-20 Budget, proposed to increase excise duty and road cess of Rs. 1 per litre each on the fuel. Petrol rates have been increased by Rs. 2.45 per litre while Diesel will now cost Rs. 2.36 more for a litre.

Petrol Rates Cut Across Metros

Oil-marketing companies slashed petrol prices while diesel rates were unchanged across the metros on Saturday. Petrol is priced at Rs.71.03 per litre in New Delhi, Rs.73.11 per litre in Kolkata, Rs.76.64 per litre in Mumbai and Rs.73.72 per litre in Chennai, according to state-run Indian Oil Corporation's (IOC) website, iocl.com. Petrol prices were cut by 7 paise per litre in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.
