Replying to a query in Rajya Sabha, Ravi Shankar Prasad said there was no suspension of postal services in Kashmir post-August 5.

Using your post office savings account just became easier. The Department of Post, through a circular, announced that it has launched mobile banking for its savings account customers. According to the circular, the facility will be available from October 15 for all the post office savings account holders of the CBS (core banking solutions) post offices.

In a clear case of neglecting one's duty, a postmaster in an Odisha village didn't deliver more than 6,000 letters dating back to even 2004, because apparently he "could not walk properly and was not in a condition to deliver these letters." Many letters contained admit cards of exams and many were addressed to BJD MP Arjun Charan Sethi.

Less than a year after banks and post offices were asked to set up Aadhaar facility on their premises, as many as 18,000 centres have come up for enrolment and updation of the biometric-ID at such locations, UIDAI CEO said. The UIDAI had in July last-year asked private as well as PSB to set up Aadhaar-facility in at least one out of 10 branches.

Total deposits in Jan Dhan accounts crossed Rs.80,000 crore mark with more people joining the flagship financial inclusion programme, according to official data. The deposits, which have been steadily rising since March 2017, were at Rs 80,545.70 crore on April 11, 2018, said a finance ministry data. PMJDY accounts had come into focus during the demonetisation period when the deposits witnessed a meteoric rise.
