The dividend distribution tax has been abolished by the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2020-21. April 1st onwards dividends are taxable in the hands of investors. According to this new change, in case a person receives more than Rs 5,000 dividend in a financial year, he will be losing 10% as TDS from the mutual fund companies or companies who is paying him a dividend.
