The dividend distribution tax or DDT has been abolished by the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2020-21. Dividends are taxable in the hands of investors from April 1st. According to this new revolution, in case a person receives more than Rs 5,000 dividend in a financial year, he will be losing 10% as Tax Deducted at Source from the mutual fund companies or companies who are paying him a dividend.
