There are 2 types of taxes namely, Direct tax and Indirect tax. GST is the form of indirect tax. Recently the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) clarified that the ready-to-eat parottas are liable for 18% GST. Wheat Parota is not a plain roti and they are different from them which is decided by the Authority of Advance Ruling (AAR). These parotas are treated further for human consumption and hence 18% GST is charged on it. Also, the Plain Rotis and khakhra attract a GST rate of 5%.
