The 40th GST council meeting was held on June 13 under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. This is the first meeting since the lockdown was imposed. Many changes have been made in this meeting. Shampoo and detergents which are used in every house are considered as luxury items and 28% GST is charged on it, Also, sanitary napkins are considered as non-essential items and 12% GST is charged on it.
