In the Union Budget 2020-21, the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman abolished dividend distribution tax (DDT) and made dividends taxable in the hands of investors. As per this new change, if you receive more than Rs 5,000 dividend in a financial year, you will be losing 10% as TDS from the mutual fund companies or companies who is paying you a dividend.
