Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is a government-backed saving scheme launched for the benefit of the girl child. This scheme encourages parents of girl children to build money for future expenses like education and marriage. Parents will be allowed to open two such accounts for girls. This scheme has a term of 21 years or until the female child marries after 18 years. At the time of opening the account, the girl child has to be below the age of 10.
