With a rise in the Indo-Chinese border tension, a campaign called boycott china has started in India. China is India’s leading trade partner and contributes to a major part of imports.

 One of the popularly imported products from china are toys. China being the world's largest manufacturer of toys, manufactures over 70% of toys in the world. 85% of toys sold in India are imported from other countries with China being the top source. So the question here is, why should we import toys from China, when we have the capability to produce them within the country?  Chennapattana, a district in Karnataka is popular for its wooden toys & used to have around 25 to 30 thousand toymakers.  However, with the import of Chinese toys, the market for these safe toys declined and now the district have only around 3000 toymakers.
